RDRS utility · Operations automation
Keep RDRS replication running.
CCA RDRS Script Monitor automatically checks the health of RDRS data scripts, restarts recoverable failures, and escalates persistent issues before they affect the flow of data.

Overview
Automated recovery.
Clear escalation.
RDRS Script Monitor is a CCA Software utility built to automate the monitoring, restart and escalation of RDRS data scripts. It routinely interrogates the server manager, attempts recovery when a selected script fails, and raises an alert when an issue persists.
Designed for unattended operations
Run it on a configurable schedule—typically every minute—to keep routine health checks close to the data flow.
Recovery with sensible limits
Failed scripts can be restarted automatically up to the configured consecutive-failure threshold, before human intervention is requested.
How it works
A practical watch over each critical data script.
Script Monitor runs as a scheduled RDRS job and monitors the server-side scripts that receive, read and apply data. It captures the information operations teams need without adding a separate monitoring platform.
RECV scripts
Monitors scripts that receive data from remote sources.
LOGREADER scripts
Monitors scripts that read source database transaction logs.
PROC scripts
Monitors scripts that process and apply replicated data.
Remote HOST manager SEND scripts are monitored indirectly: when a SEND script stops, the reason is passed to its corresponding RECV script and is captured by Script Monitor.
Key features
Move from detection to informed action.
Build recovery, escalation and operational visibility into the RDRS scripts that keep replication pipelines flowing.
Automated restart
Automatically restarts failed scripts up to the configured consecutive-failure limit.
Intentional-stop detection
Recognises when a user deliberately stopped a script, so it does not restart it unnecessarily.
External monitoring integration
Exposes operational error signals for Nagios, Orion or any file-based monitoring system.
Maintenance mode
A maintenance file suspends Script Monitor operations during planned outages.
Configurable logging
Choose append or overwrite behaviour for each monitoring cycle and retain the detail you need.
Connectivity checks
Optionally verify host-manager connectivity for mainframe replication links.
ERROR.txtCreated after persistent failures to provide a direct, machine-readable escalation signal for human intervention and external monitoring.
Windows Event 234Generated for integration with Windows monitoring tools, extending visibility into existing operational workflows.
Configuration & deployment
Fit monitoring into the RDRS environment you already run.
- Distributed as the Java application ScriptMonitor.jar.
- Installed in the RDRS scripts directory with a companion Script Monitor data directory.
- Scheduled through the RDRS scheduler module.
- Monitored scripts include Prolog and Epilog exit-code handling.
Make RDRS script health an operational certainty.
